Netanyahu told Likud lawmakers Monday that he is holding the vote, more than a year ahead of schedule, to create “party unity” ahead of elections tentatively set for late 2013.
Netanyahu, who is expected to win is eager to solidify his leadership at a time when he is popular with the public. The move will likely undermine any chance of a serious threat to his leadership and greatly increase Netanyahu’s chances of re-election as prime minister.
Polls currently show the Likud to be well ahead of all challengers.
Will be a snooze. Bibi should get like 60-70% with the rest for Feiglin and Shalom.
I must say that so far Bibi has far exceeded expectations. Is much more rightist and firm than most believed he’d be. Has a stable government not seen in history. Stands up to Obama, says the painful truth and is a leader. May he be chozer biteshuvah.
Perfect opportunity to get rid of Bibi and the rest of the old guard. Bring up some of the younger and fresher Likudniks like Hotovely.
