An IDF soldier opened fire as Mertzbach’s vehicle drove toward him on Route 60, believing the car contained terrorists and his life was in danger.
As a result of the mishap, the IDF has ruled to forbid soldiers from opening fire on moving vehicles in the West Bank.

Will policy change back if chas v’shalom it allows an attack to be successful?
Hmmm. “Accidental.” Of course it was….
So if they can’t fire on moving vehicles, what can they fire on? Stationary vehicles only?
I don’t understand why Rabbi Dan Mertzbach didn’t stop when the IDF told him to, but this may not be the best way to stop Jews from being killed. If terrorists can more easily get through roadblocks, MORE Jews may ch’v be in danger.
Why not train soldiers on how to identify a real terror threat, rather then prohibiting ‘all’ shooting? Sometimes it may be necessary to shoot.
