“Tens of thousands of people know and appreciate my actions for all residents of the city,” Abutbol said, as quoted in Kikar HaShabbat news.
Abutbol said he would strive to smooth out the tensions between religious and secular residents of the city.
Seculars, you lost the election, suck it up.
Anybody who was reading between the lines, realized right from the outset that part of the whole media fuss was instigated by people who have a specific interest in his ouster. If they manage to get a majority of the city’s population to sign a petition against him, then he will have to resign, until then, there is no reason for him to resign. Should he have to resign because some people would rather have their own guy in office?
Let the general population decide.
If you don’t live in Beit Shemesh, you don’t know what you’re saying. This is not a secular vs. Religious thing. He is mayor for the Haredim no one else. Have you wondered why he has said nothing about these issues since the summer? There was spitting and cursing at those girls at Orot and did he visit once? Did he come to the school once? Did he attend any rally once? Did he denounce violence once? No no and no. He only spoke when the national press got a hold of him.
If you know a single resident in Beit Shemesh who is not extremist, ask him/her if they like this mayor. The answer guaranteed is no.
Does this mayor have any qualifications to run a city. Does any one know what his background is? Doe he have any public policy experience ? Answer these questions honestly before deciding whether he is fit to to be mayor of a growing city.
