Brooklyn, NY – The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is probing a string of mysterious mezuzah snatchings at the Trump Village Apartments in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, police sources said.

Since December, the sneaky thief has ripped off 10 of the $60 mezuzahs — encased Jewish sacred scrolls secured to door frames — on the 15th, 18th and 19th floors of the Ocean Parkway building, police sources said.
First of all Trump Village is on the border of Brighton Beach and Coney Island, not Sheepshead Bay. The buildings have 24 hour security and closed circuit security cameras all over. The culprit (like all others recently) will be caught in very short order.

how weird. this happened to me also in an apt bldg on Ocean Ave and Ave O. . I didn’t think of reporting it as a hate crime but it probably was. Irinically, many of the apts have a “siman” of where there used to be a mezuzah, but the population totally changed
Disgusting. Complete robbery & theft and… I would argue a little violently-undertoned as well, since these are clearly religious artifacts belonging to a specific group of people!
It makes my skin crawl to think that there are people out there w\THIS little respect for HaShem.
I hope they catch the thieves!
